New York, the birthplace of skyscrapers, musicals, advertising in the form of gigantic screens, and... fashion. Yes, Paris and Milan may have more points in this competition, but there's no denying that New York style, casual and cool, is at the forefront of trends season after season. From this new edition of Fashion Week (marked by unusually warm temperatures when what was expected was snow) we drew several conclusions: first, about what we saw on the catwalk; second, and just as important, about the surprising outfits that dominated the street style. Let's get down to it.

Many of you may see the catwalk shows as a series of impossible garments and accessories, each one more extravagant than the last, and it's true that virality is becoming more and more important in an industry that is driven by social networks, hashtags and views. It's a way of looking at it, yes, but in the end fashion is also about fun, innovation and transgression, and the catwalks are becoming a kind of window to the future. That doesn't mean that designers' new proposals have to be taken literally (or they do); we can see it as inspiration that we can transfer to our everyday looks, make them our own, and that's where we're going to stop in this article. As the recently deceased Spanish designer Paco Rabanne once said: "Fashion is not a game or the will of a couturier. It is a moment of civilisation".
Carolina Herrera's new collection takes us to a party full of tulle, ruffles, plumeti and flowers. Palomo Spain, our national icon, vindicates other forms of masculinity in a proposal in which romantic looks and pastel colours stand out. Altuzarra, on the other hand, opts for bright colours, psychedelic tie-dyes and the most appetising collars, and Collina Strada is inspired by nature for a fashion show that has left no one indifferent (make-up with prosthetics included). Does this mean that next autumn/winter we will go to work with a pig's snout on our face, or a dress with endless metres of tulle? Probably not, that's why we tell you how to adapt the most talked-about trends of Fashion Week to your outfits without risking more than necessary.

If you just want to make a little wink, take inspiration from the colours, a print that has caught your eye, or the accessories and shoes. If you want to risk a little more, try to play with volumes; surely you have seen dresses, blouses or even trousers that are out of the typical patterns and that you would incorporate without hesitation to your wardrobe (balloon trousers, as a fact, are coming very strong). It is also interesting to look at the hairstyles and make-up that we see on the catwalk. At the moment, glowy, juicy, natural skin and a polished hairstyle are still at the top of the trends.
And we can't forget to talk, as usual, about street style. This second catwalk where film, music or fashion personalities and fashion victims from all over the world gather to proudly show their styles, or, in other words, their way of expressing themselves and understanding fashion. Conclusions in this sense? Betting everything on those trends that go viral in seconds, such as MSCHF's red boots (the same as Astro Boy's) which, if you have social networks, you will be tired of seeing. A lot of attention has also been paid to jackets, which we've seen in all colours, shapes and textures; and, as we've seen so far, to single-colour looks, where pink continues to be one of the favourite shades..
In short, New York has conquered us with its styles, both on and off the catwalk. Now it's time to say goodbye (at least for now) and wait for the respective Fashion Weeks in London, Milan and the long-awaited Paris. As always, we'll be here to take note of every trend we spot and tell you all about what we love most: fashion.
