Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, but it wasn't until the 20th century, with the rise of punk music, that the Goth aesthetic reached mass culture under the motto "Live fast, die young", in response to the colorful 70s. Today, this distinctive style is making a strong comeback on runways, boutiques, and even the big screen. Keep reading to immerse yourself in the darker side of fashion and let yourself be carried away by your darker 2.0 side.
If emerging brands like Rodarte, Melitta, Khaite, or some of the more established ones in the industry such as Moschino, Versace, or Alexander McQueen agree; it will be for a reason. Gothic inspiration is the definitive trend to consider in the coming months; an aesthetic that goes back to the Middle Ages and that in the 21st century has found in the Netflix series "Wednesday" (a project directed by Tim Burton and starring Jenna Ortega) its perfect vehicle to reach the bulk of the population again.

Although we know that when we say 'gothic' we automatically think of lace, brocades, velvet, and a lot of black, we must tell you that Goth is much more than that. With the disruptive 80s, the rise of new musical styles, and the need, especially among young people, to break with the colorful aesthetic that predominated at the time, black imposed itself around the globe. The beginnings are in the United Kingdom, but soon the fashion industry, aided by emerging globalization, made the inspiration of some minority groups the new focus of major designers (just look at the collections of Vivienne Westwood from those years).

Thus, what was a way for a few to differentiate themselves became the trend of trends. After this came many fashions, many styles, and a lot of color, but as it is known in this industry ‘everything comes back’, and Goth was no exception. To introduce it into our wardrobe, it is not necessary to take it to the maximum exponent (which is also a possibility), we can progressively get into the pool with versatile and wearable purchases such as a long, straight-cut black coat - a garment at the forefront of proposals from Dolce & Gabbana and Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham, Alaïa, Khaite, or Balenciaga -, a blouse or shirt with some special detail like bows or transparencies, a groundbreaking bag or crossbody, or chunky boots. Whatever the trend at the moment, there are always certain pieces worth investing in, which adapt to fashions and survive them. At Esdemarca we have them all, so here is a small preview of garments with which you will feel like part of the Addams family without losing an ounce of freshness. And if none convince you, take a look at our website, we assure you that we have everything you are looking for.
