We spoke with Gigi Vives at the 080 in Barcelona: discover all the tips, advice, and tricks from the insider to be the best dressed next season.

“I think tights with ballet flats are coming a lot, and we have also seen a lot of red. I love all that line of aesthetics as more childish, but then combined with a blazer or something more serious and adult results in a very cute mix, that we are seeing a lot and that I love”, Vives began saying about what we will see inside and outside the runway this season. And if there was a mandatory question, it was what and who inspire the influencer when orchestrating her outfits. “Many things inspire me, from movies, characters, people I see on the street, people I am seeing right now here at the 080... And obviously, also fashion icons and references: from Carrie Bradshow (who I love!) to Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski... Lately, I have been paying a lot of attention to Irina Shayk, she is my new favorite,” she reveals backstage.  

Perhaps because of these diverse references, her own style alone inspires her more than 425,000 followers on Instagram, which is no small feat. “I would define my style as a perfect balance between masculine and feminine, always leaning towards oversized and taking risks with shoes. I like any shoe, from a stiletto heel to ‘bling bling’; shoes define me a lot stylistically because I can wear the same look, but the footwear I always try to make it different and I play a lot with it”. And with Carrie Bradshow -aka the queen of shoes- as the main reference, it could not be otherwise. 

“And about Gigi, could you reveal to us what has been the best fashion advice you have ever received?” “Of course! It's a bit cliché, but the best fashion advice I've been given is that you wear what you want to wear and what makes you feel good. Don't compare yourself or have the obsession or need to follow a trend because it's what you see in others, but be true to your style, to what suits you and to what you feel comfortable with. If you go down that path, you're sure to achieve a great look, because when you're comfortable you already exude a different attitude.” And she's not wrong. 

Now, we just need to know what tip the new fashion podcaster would recommend to always be up to date. “My fail-safe advice I think is to adapt; adapt or die. You have to be up to date with everything, not so much in terms of following trends and such, but knowing what is happening in the world of fashion, in the world of art, in the world of cinema, reading... Inform yourself about everything that is happening, because I think that contributes a lot to many aspects of your life”.
