Fall is here, a new season, and we need to get rid of all those summer looks to make room (and space in our drawers) for the clothes that will dominate this autumn. The thing is, it’s not necessary to go on a shopping spree to dress with style and personality, and this is where our best friend every season comes into play: your capsule wardrobe, a concept that is becoming more and more popular in the fashion world. A small number of clothes, between 10 and 15, that are useful and essential, allowing us to create a large number of outfits by mixing and matching them, and of course, this helps to prioritize quality over quantity.

A capsule wardrobe is the perfect tool to avoid the famous phrase "I don’t know what to wear" every time a plan comes up, saving considerable time and money, and of course, it also has a sustainable focus. Naturally, every capsule wardrobe will be unique, and that’s the interesting part, but we are going to talk about some common tips so that you can create yours and unleash your imagination.

Where to start when creating a capsule wardrobe?

Forget about trends for a moment. In this case, we need clothes that are useful every year, and therefore, will never go out of style (or at the very least, can be perfectly adapted). It's crucial to have an idea of what garments fit our style, always starting from versatility, which will be different for everyone—there are no rules here.

The pieces that should be in your capsule wardrobe this fall

A cardigan or knit sweater

It’s true that if we had to pick a standout piece for this fall, there would be no doubt that it would be a cardigan. But how many pieces are so timeless, useful, and versatile? This is a piece that can’t be missing from your wardrobe. If you prefer something different, a good sweater is another option for the return of cold weather, a staple that will save us day to day. As for colors, it’s always a good idea to rely on basics like white or black, and if you want to take a bit more of a risk with this year’s colors (which, of course, will still be a yes in the coming years), go for burgundy or brown.

A pair of jeans and/or a denim skirt

They never go out of style, and the best part is that they offer infinite combinations to adapt to any plan. As for jeans, you can choose the cut that flatters you most according to your body shape—straight cut is always a good option. A tip is to have a pair in other shades like gray or brown to add a different touch to your looks.

A white shirt

It’s a timeless basic with the advantage of being wearable at any time of year. A highly recommended option is to choose a non-fitted one so it can be adapted as needed, whether paired with dress pants and leather shoes for work or left open with a denim skirt for a casual drink.

A black blazer

The timeless garment par excellence. No matter your style or taste, having one in your wardrobe is a necessity. And if it’s a little oversized, even better. We recommend investing a little more in this piece because, trust us, it will feel like an extension of your body. We could give you countless ideas on how to style it, but the truth is, it could work in practically any look you imagine, whether with a dress, jeans, midi skirts, or even with a sporty set.

Basic T-shirts (and if they’re white, even better)

Basic T-shirts are the staple of staples, and if they’re white or black, even better. Versatile, practical, an absolute must. With our favorite black blazer, under a shirt, sweater, or cardigan, there’s no excuse not to have one (or several) in your wardrobe.

A black dress

It’s a must-have this fall (and every season), and the simpler, the better—playing with accessories will be key to creating our look. A black dress never goes out of style and will remain in your wardrobe for years, leaving its mark. You can opt for a slip dress for a different touch.
