There are two types of people: those who pack their suitcase a month in advance and those who still don’t know where to start the day before. A getaway is always a big "yes," especially in winter—a season that invites us to craft the most stylish looks from our wardrobe. Considering that cold and rain are frequent this time of year, the "just in case" items can be endless. That’s where we step in to help you with essential tips to avoid carrying your entire house with you.
We believe that the lead-up to a trip is part of the journey itself, and if you learn to approach it calmly, it can be quite special. So grab a notebook and pen, because at Esdemarca, we’re here to share some tips to bring your style to your favorite destination..

The Art of Layering
Packing for winter isn’t as easy as packing for summer—no surprises there. The weather can change, so you need to be ready for anything, and yes, layering will be your best friend. But hold on! If you’re already thinking of using the largest suitcase you own, forget it. Basics will save the day, and a carry-on will be more than enough. Pack cotton T-shirts, long-sleeved or short-sleeved (depending on how much you feel the cold), sweaters—burgundy or olive green are perfect choices (seasonal colors are always a win)—and of course, your favorite trench coat. If you prefer a leather jacket, that’s a great option too.
Versatile Pants
We’re going on a getaway to enjoy ourselves, not to worry about comfort. So, this principle should guide our packing. Versatile pants that adapt to multiple plans are perfect; in this case, less is more. A pair of jeans and loose-fit chinos will suffice.
The Perfect Footwear
Arguably the most important choice in the entire suitcase: two pairs of shoes—one to wear and one to pack. Since it might rain, bring boots (comfortable ones are a must). They’re stylish and ideal for city walks or dinner plans. Make sure they’re waterproof to avoid unpleasant surprises. Add a pair of sneakers—stylish ones that go with everything—and you’re good to go.
Functional Accessories That Make a Difference
Details elevate your outfit to the next level. Since it’s colder at night, a scarf and beanie that match your wardrobe are excellent choices to round out your suitcase. We recommend choosing warmer materials like wool or cashmere.
Toiletry Bag Essentials
Packing toiletries is tricky. Oddly, we often need the same products for a two-day trip as for a ten-day one. To simplify, opt for mini sizes: toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, etc. If you’re traveling with someone you trust, share items instead of bringing duplicates—you’ll save time and money.
Travel Must-Haves
Don’t forget to add these essentials to your list: chargers (and a portable battery), a book for the trip, headphones, a compact portable umbrella (small but capable of saving you from a downpour), reusable bags (great for carrying shoes, separating dirty clothes, or last-minute shopping), and finally, pajamas. Knowing the weather at your destination helps choose between short or long pajamas. And of course, don’t forget underwear.
Packing the perfect suitcase for a winter getaway isn’t hard if you follow these tips. The key is to choose versatile pieces that mix and match easily, trust in layering, and be prepared for surprises. Take a deep breath, get started, and enjoy without complications.
