The year was 1947 and although the war was over, the country had changed a lot, and so had the 501® jean. The end of rationing allowed a return to some familiar features of the 501®, such as the rivets on the watch pocket. But it also introduced some updates in response to the changing times and the emerging middle class, such as a modern, slimmer fit and the removal of extraneous details like the waistband and brace buttons. And while the arched back pocket was no longer painted as it was during the war, it had changed. Thanks to the new double-needle technology, the famous double-arched seam could be produced in large quantities and in uniform shape and design, without being subject to the skills of the seamstresses. Today, we reproduce all these details with the same 340g red line stitched denim.
